Day 33

August 18
Miles:  ?

Still in the Mount Hood Wilderness.  Today I had lots of elevation gain and reached Timberline lodge.  It’s a ski resort and quite remarkable.  Built and maintained by the state of Oregon, it’s got lots of history and beauty.  Inside there is a museum showing the history.  Lodging is much too expensive to get a room, so I set up my tent in some trees nearby.  The restaurant is first class, but I ate at the bar.  I picked up my resupply here and purchased some additional items at one of the tiny gift shops that had a little food.

There were many thru-hikers here and I was kept busy socializing most of the day.

One of my few deer sightings.  Usually they run off before I can snap a shot.  This one was curious.
