It was a beautiful day today with great views, clear skies but cool. lots of elevation gain that was very tough. My feet were better after the rest but I should have iced them more during my break. I always seem to be too busy during my zero days and don’t get around to icing my feet and knee. I’m sure that if I would take the time, I would have less pain in my feet.
I left at 10 am with hard climbing so I only got 18 miles even though I walked fast. I kept a fast pace which fried my legs. I camped at a lake with other hikers, which means I won’t be able to get up early. There were no more campsites but I found a crappy spot to park and it worked fine.
This was one of the many great views of the day…
Lots of open field, which is different than what I’ve been used to since Oregon.
I see a lot of these birds. I think they are grouse but I don’t know for sure. They are very brave and will only move down the trail as you walk, rather than fly away. After a while, they must get tired as they finally take off flying. This one came right up to me as I was taking it’s picture. I was wondering if it was going to attack me until I moved and it took off. If I was really hungry, these would be plentiful and easy to catch.
Some of these shots actually have cool mountain ranges in the background but they don’t show up well in the picture. I sometimes take a zoom shot to capture the distant mountains. But it’s sooooo much better to see them in person.
