I caught a ride from South Lake Tahoe from a lady that went out her way to take me to the trail. It only took 10 minutes or so to get the ride. I’ve been very lucky with hitchhiking. I think it helps to have a sign.
I started hiking around 1:30 pm at Echo Lake. There were lots of day hikers and a few hikers that did overnight camping along the trail. It was a cold and windy day with clear skies. The trail was so rocky and hard on my feet, I decided to call it the “Trail of Tears”. I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to rocky trails, but I think it is less painful to my feet now than in the past, but still agonizing.
I only hiked about 7 miles, as that brought me to a tent site and the next one was too far away. First days back are always harder then the days that follow.
Good evening PCT…
I saw several cabins similar to this one along Echo Lake.
